# How To Start A Permanent 24/7 YouTube Live Stream using YouTube Connect

The easiest way to live stream to YouTube is by using Youtube Connect. This will allow Upstream to "connect" to YouTube (via API)-  enabling you to control your stream without constantly going to Youtube Studio to start your streams.

YouTube Connect enables many actions directly from Upstream:

* Starting Streams (without copy pasting the RTMP key)
* Changing the Thumbnail
* Changing the Title
* Changing the Description
* Setting Ad Cue Points
* Stopping Streams

### 1. Go to the Upstream [Stream Dashboard](https://upstream.so/stream)
First, go to your Stream Dashboard (My Streams Page).

### 2. Click on "Create new 24/7 stream"
From here you will begin the process of creating the stream slot

### 3. Select "Youtube" as your Platform

### 4. Click on "Connect with YouTube"

### 4. 1. If you have already linked a previously YouTube Channel, you can select it from this list.
*This only appears if you have linked it once before, if not, you will be redirected to select a channel.

### 5. Choose the account and channel which you wish to stream to and accept the required permissions

### 6. Input the required information

Write down the information which will help your live stream to stand out, such as the stream name, its description and everything else you might need.

### 7 Click on "Continue with YouTube" at the bottom

### 8. Select the same account and channel from the selection box, and make sure to click Continue on subsequent pages.

# FAQ

### Can I connect different streams to different channels?
Yes! You can connect each stream slot in Upstream to a different channel, or start multiple streams on the same channel.

### Can I change settings on-the-fly?
Yes, you can change any setting on the fly

### Why do I have to turn on Monetization in YouTube Studio instead of directly on Upstream?
This is a YouTube Limitation. We will enable turning monetization ON and OFF via Upstream as soon as YouTube enables this option in their API.
