Upstream's Live Studio enables you to mix in live content into your stream. You can do so via OBS, Streamlabs or any other streaming software or service via RTMP & HLS Ingress / ingest. You can switch between pre-recorded and LIVE or choose to display both at the same time with overlays and our preset screen configurations.

Setting Up on Upstream

1. Go to your **Stream Edit **Page
2. Click on the Live Studio Tab to reveal Ingress options
3. Set your RTMP Live Overlay to "Enabled"

This will enable the RTMP/HLS ingress and generate a Stream URL and Stream Key that you have to input into OBS

Setting Up in OBS

Here's how to start streaming from OBS (the process should be similar for any streaming software or service)

1. Open OBS Studio
2. Go to Settings (Preferences) → Stream
3. Select "Custom" as the Service
4. Copy and paste the Server URL from Upstream Live Studio
5. Copy and paste the Stream Key from Upstream Live Studio
6. Click "OK" and then "Start Streaming"

Your OBS stream will immediately appear in Upstream's Live Studio. Save your settings and publish changes to display the overlay on your (multi)stream.

Live Studio Options

There are a few options to choose from when streaming a combination of pre-recorded and LIVE content. You can access them in the Live Studio, just below your content preview.

Playback options

• Mute Audio - Choose to mute the audio of your Input Stream / OBS / Streamlabs stream
• Hide Video - Hide the video of your

Display position options

• Full Screen - Display your ingress full screen
• Small Overlay - Display your ingress in the corners (4 corner options). You can click on this icon multiple times to cycle through the 4 positions / corners
• Left / Right half of the screen - Your ingress takes up the left or right half, while the right half displays your pre-recorded content
• Bottom bar - Displays your ingress stream in a bar taking up the lower 5th of the screen.
• Drag and resize freely - this enables you to drag your ingress stream anywhere on the screen, resize it and set it up where you want

Display position options

• Hide Stream Designer - If your stream designer overlays are temporarily in the way, hide them easily with this button.
• Reset Video Position - This button will quickly reset your image to the default size and central position

FAQ

Can I go live straight from my webcam to Upstream Live Studio?

No, you still have to set up OBS to receive your webcam signal, and then follow all the steps described above.

Does this allow for commentary style live-streams?

Yes - exactly! You can display your pre-recorded content and appear in a corner of your stream, commenting LIVE.

Is Live Studio available for all Upstream users?

Yes - at no additional cost.

Does the display position change immediately as I drag it across the screen?

No - The changes become visible only when you hit Save / Publish!
