Livestream duration, length and limitations

There are many popular platforms where you can stream your content to, but many of them impose limits which you as the user should be aware of, many of them do not impose any limits but we will still go through them.

1. YouTube - Guidelines



YouTube is not imposing any limits on how long a livestream can be long.
If you wish to save the video as a VOD (Video on Demand) it has to be shorter than 12 hours.

2. Twitch - Guidelines



Twitch has a hard limit of 48 hours per livestream, however if you run it from Upstream we automatically restart it after 48 hours.
VODs are saved for up to 7 days for regular users, if you're an affiliate they can be saved for up to 60 days.

3. Rumble



Rumble has no length limitations and you can keep the stream running constantly.
Rumble requires a minimum of 5 followers OR a paid plan to start streaming.

4. Facebook - Guidelines



8 hours maximum per stream using streaming software, Facebook requires to create a new livestream afterwards.

5. Instagram - Guidelines



Instagram has a limit of 4 hours per stream and needs to be set up again when it finishes.
VODs are saved for up to 30 days.

6. Mixcloud



No limit in terms of duration.
